A hackathon is a timed event in which teams made up of both technical and business experts get together to collaborate intensively on creative projects. The aim is to design, build and present the most innovative solution to a problem, and then pitch a final concept, prototype or presentation to the stakeholders.
There are quite a few benefits to participating in a Hackathon:
Timelines: 2 to 3 months
Step 1
Hackathon theme identification – Primarily by collaborating with our Principal / partners / collaborators
Step 2
Identify Collaborators for the hackathon- they could come from diverse backgrounds -Businesses, Incubators, Investment Firms, Research and Academic Institutions also Individuals working on the selected theme. Nija team would work on bringing Collaborators from all over India.
Step 3
Identify Mentors and subject matter experts (SME), Practitioners, Researchers, Entrepreneurs, Designers, Architects, Technicians, Software Specialists, and Lab Supports all based on the theme.
Step 4
Prepare a calendar of events, and announce at least 30 to 45 days before. After the hackathon challenge, there would be venture building followed by incubation.
Step 5
PR and Marketing directly through Traditional Media, PR, and Social Media, also through direct collaboration with organisations and institutions (Colleges & Universities).
Step 6
Zero in on the Hackathon efforts, Venue (if physical), immersion, and other interventions. It’s good to have local partners as venue partners though we will have much of the Hackathon happening online.
Step 7
Registration of participants – Engineering/Medical Students, Professionals, Design students, Entrepreneurs, and General Enthusiasts from the Hackathon.

Entering the participant details and the providing them with the materials for the hackathon

Orientation
Taking the participants through the program schedule and the details of the program.
Step 3
Workshops
Several workshops on design thinking, ideation, productisation, IP management, business modelling, and monetisation.
Step 4:
Immersion
This is essentially about providing first-hand exposure to participants, and understanding the problem statements in the native ecosystem either in person or through videos or other available resources.
Step 5:
Query Resolution
Encouraging participants to pick from the problem statements from the available list or asking them to submit their own pick along with providing a justification for the same.
Step 6
Creating the Team
Encouraging participants to finalise a team that would like to work along with the applicants.
Step 7
Faculty Interaction
Interaction between the mentors and SMEs to fine-tune their understanding and approach.
Step 8
Start Hackathon
The interaction between the participants and mentors begins.
Step 9
Submission
Submit the final deliverables concept note.

Pitch
Present the outcome as a Pitch
Step 11
Evaluation – Award Ceremony
Here the Jury would be selected by the jury from the collaborators, sponsors and mentors would evaluate the pitches, and winners will be selected and rewarded.

Participating in the Game
Every team and all the participants would be encouraged to participate in the 30 to 45 days challenge.

All teams could submit their ideas.

Inducting New Members
The team can submit new members also.
Step 3
New Idea Execution
There would be proposals to help with executing the ideas where the finance experts, lab researchers, hardware or software, or even the CloudNet and software people or the mentors could contribute towards ideation.

Team Finalisation/Support
Team finalisation and support are offered on each case.
Step 5
Mandatory Participation
Team participation is mandatory even when no monetary support is extended.
Step 6
Tracking
Tracking the progress and support according to milestones.

Pitch
On the Pitch day, the jury would include investors and industry participants who can fund or facilitate the adoption of the pitches made on that day.

Evaluation
Evaluating the participants on the basis of participation and performance.
Step 3
Rewards and Recognition
Rewards and recognition to the winning teams.
After the event is accomplished the team would coordinate with the incubation facilities and allied industries in creating the entire engagement for further events.

Coordinate with Incubation facilities, investors, and allied industries in stitching the engagement.

Signing off.
